Refund and Returns Policy — Alpha Build Group

At Alpha Build Group, we want you to be satisfied with every purchase. This policy explains how returns, exchanges, and refunds work, in line with the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA).

1. Your Rights Under the Consumer Protection Act

Regardless of any policy below, South African law guarantees you the right to:

• Reject goods that don’t match what you ordered, are unsafe, or are of poor quality, within a reasonable time of delivery/collection.
• Return defective goods within 6 months of purchase for a repair, replacement, or refund, at your choice, at no charge to you — this applies to manufacturing defects, not damage caused by misuse.

Nothing in this policy limits these statutory rights.

2. Our Standard Return Window

In addition to your statutory rights, we accept returns of unused, unopened goods in their original packaging within 3 to 5 days of delivery or collection, for a refund, exchange, or store credit (your choice).

To be eligible:

• The item must be unused and in the same condition you received it
• It must be in its original packaging with proof of purchase (order number or receipt)
• For items collected via a pickup point, you may return them to that same pickup point or contact us to arrange collection

3. Items That Cannot Be Returned

Due to their nature, the following are not eligible for return unless defective or not as described:

• Custom-cut, made-to-order, or specially ordered materials (e.g. cut timber, custom-mixed paint)
• Opened chemical products (paint, adhesives, sealants) once the seal has been broken, for safety and hygiene reasons
• Clearance or final-sale items, clearly marked as such at time of purchase
• Products damaged through misuse, normal wear, or improper storage after delivery

4. Damaged, Incorrect, or Faulty Items

If your order arrives damaged, incorrect, or faulty:

1. Contact us within 48 hours of delivery/collection with your order number and photos of the issue.
2. We will arrange a replacement, repair, or full refund at no cost to you, including any return delivery costs where applicable.

5. How to Start a Return

To request a return, exchange, or refund:

1. Contact us (details below) with your order number and reason for return.
2. We’ll confirm whether the item is eligible and provide instructions for returning it (in-store, at a pickup point, or via collection).
3. Once we’ve received and inspected the returned item, we’ll process your refund, exchange, or store credit.

6. Refund Method and Timing

Approved refunds are issued back to your original payment method via Paystack, or as store credit if you prefer. Refunds are typically processed within 7 to 10 business days of us receiving and inspecting the returned item — actual reflection time on your bank statement depends on your bank.

7. Return Shipping Costs

• If the return is due to our error (wrong item, defective product, damaged in transit), we cover the return cost.
• If the return is a change of mind (where accepted under Section 2), the customer is responsible for return delivery costs, unless the item was collected from a pickup point where free return drop-off is offered.

8. Stokvel Contributions

Monthly Stokvel contributions are not physical goods and are not covered by this returns policy. Stokvel-specific terms (leaving a group, payment obligations) are governed separately within the app’s Stokvel feature itself.
